Day Care? Don’t Care! The Follow-Up

“Perfect!” exclaimed Sasha’s new teacher when I went to pick her (that is, Sasha) up from her first day of day care. “She was perfect.”

Apparently, she didn’t cry all day, had a lot of fun, and didn’t particularly want to leave when I showed up. Oh, she didn’t poop and only napped 30 minutes, but whatever. Sasha’s a happy day-care kid. Whew.

  1. Be wary. My kid was in day care until the lack of sleep caught up with all of us. Then again, he was also a lot younger.

  2. Day one is always awesome.

Days 2 through ? are the issue. My daughter was 2 when she started. She wouldn’t poop there, it took her months to get up to a 1 hour nap (she takes 2.5 hours naps at home), and ate the food only sometimes. Anxiety showed itself through those instances. She always did have fun there though.
